This section covers creating a syslog server configuration, testing it, and editing or deleting it. The Syslog Server Configurations page lists every syslog target configured for your account. Perform the following steps to add a syslog server:

Log in to your VirtuCrypt Intelligence Portal (VIP) account.

In the left-hand side menu, select Settings > Syslog Server Configs.
This opens the Syslog Server Configurations page, which lists all syslog targets for your account.

Select [ Create Syslog Server ].
This brings up the Create Syslog Server dialog.

Enter the appropriate details for the following settings:
  • Enabled: Toggle this on to activate the configuration. VIP forwards logs only to enabled configurations.
  • Select cert files: If your target server requires a certificate for the TLS connection, select this field to upload the CA certificate or CA bundle that issued the syslog server’s certificate. See Appendix A: Frequently asked questions for details on which certificate to provide.
  • Cert Content (Read Only): Displays the content of the uploaded certificate. This field is read-only.
  • Server Address: Enter either the fully qualified domain name or the IP address of your syslog server.
  • Server Port: Enter the port on which your server listens for incoming syslog messages. The default is 6514.

Select [ Save ] to create the syslog server configuration.
The new syslog server configuration appears in the Syslog Server Configurations table.

Test a configuration

To confirm that VIP can reach a target, select the three-dot menu in the Actions column, then select Test. VIP sends an echo message to the target syslog server.

If the message sends successfully, a confirmation toast displays. If the message fails to send, an error toast displays instead.

Edit or delete a configuration

To change or remove a configuration, select the three-dot menu in the Actions column, then select Edit or Delete.
