Before beginning, ensure your environment conforms to the following specifications:

Settings:

  • You must be able to log in to the VIP web portal.
  • You must have the audit_log_syslog.get permission to view and manage syslog server configurations.
  • You must have the audit_log_syslog.ip_whitelisting permission to add whitelisted IP addresses. This permission is required only if you use IP whitelisting.
  • The syslog server must be reachable over a public ingress. VIP cannot deliver logs to a server that is only reachable through a private network, such as a VPN or a VirtuCrypt Access Point (VAP).
  • The syslog connection uses TCP. The default port is 6514, which you can change.
  • If the syslog server requires TLS, obtain the certificate authority (CA) certificate or CA bundle that issued the server’s certificate.
Futurex assigns the audit_log_syslog.get and audit_log_syslog.ip_whitelisting permissions. If you do not see the option for syslog export, the permissions are missing. Contact VirtuCrypt support for assistance.
