Install the TDP file encryption agent on a Windows machine
Perform the following steps to install the Transparent Data Protection (TDP) agent:
- Extract the Endpoint zip file.
- Install the trust.p7b file into the Local Machine Trusted Root Certificate Authorities store.
- Run the TDP Agent installer.
Perform the following steps to extract the Endpoint zip file:
Extract the zip file downloaded in your browser after deploying the service in .
Change to the extracted directory that contains the following files:
- credential.txt
- info.txt
- installer.msi
- support.txt
- trust.p7b
Perform the following steps to install the trust.p7b file into the Local Machine Trusted Root Certificate Authorities store:
Open the Manage computer certificates program.
Right-click the Trusted Root Certificate Authorities store and select All Tasks > Import.
In the Certificate Import wizard, select [ Next ].
Select [ Browse ], open the trust.p7b file, and select [ Next ].
The Trusted Root Certificate Authorities store should already be selected as the location for all certificates. Select [ Next ].
Select [ Finish ].
You should see a message that the import was successful.
Perform the following steps to run the TDP Agent installer:
Double-click the installer.msi executable.
In the Aether Setup wizard, select [ Next ].
You must accept the terms in the License Agreement to proceed with the installation. Select the checkbox and select [ Next ] to continue.
In the Custom Setup step, you can select the features to install or select [ Next ] to proceed with the default installation configuration.
In Configuration, the most important step in the wizard, you can define the following information:
- Host
- API Key
- Service UUID
- Check Certificate Revocation
- Check Server Certificate Hostname
To simplify the setup, the installer uses the information contained within the credential.txt and info.txt files to auto-populate the first three fields. Choose whether you want to disable the two checkbox fields, and then select [ Next ].
Select [ Install ] to begin the installation.
After the installation completes, select [ Finish ] to close the setup wizard.
When prompted to restart your system for the configuration changes made by Aether to take effect, select [ Yes ] to restart now or [ No ] if you plan to restart later manually.
