# Provision a cloud HSM

> Step-by-step instructions to provision a cloud HSM.

Perform the following steps to provision a cloud HSM:

    Go to the **Cloud HSMs** option from the services menu bar. Then, select **\[ Manage ]**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Select **\[ Provision Cloud HSM ]** and then select the associated **Resource** and **Region** for the Cloud HSM. The resource is the associated HSM Service under which the cloud HSM falls (transaction acquiring, card & mobile issuing, or general purpose), and the region refers to the cloud location.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Select **\[ Submit ]**.

    <Check>
      The VIP Dashboard gives the cloud HSM a unique identifier and automatically provisions the HSM.
    </Check>
  </Step>

  <Step>
    On the newly provisioned Cloud HSM, which appears in the service drop-down menu, select **\[ Start ]** to start the Cloud HSM.

    <Check>
      The status changes from Stopped to Running.
    </Check>
